History Teachers Association of AU Professional Development

The History Teachers' Association of Australia (HTAA) provides professional development and learning opportunities for history educators across the country. As the national peak body for history teaching, HTAA works to promote public support for the teaching, learning, and making of history, and is a member of the Australian Alliance of Associations in Education. HTAA and its state and territory affiliates — including associations in New South Wales, Western Australia, Queensland, Victoria, and the ACT — deliver face-to-face and online professional development, publish teaching journals like Teaching History, organise conferences, and produce curriculum-aligned resources for primary and secondary teachers. HTAA also runs the National History Challenge, a free research-based competition for students in Years 1–12, and has developed learning sequences aligned with the Australian Curriculum: History.
